— — **Pricing Details** Black Angus cattle are typically slaughtered when they weigh between 1,100 and 1,400 pounds. The age at which a steer is slaughtered can range from 12 to 22 months, depending on when the calf is weaned and how it is fed. The amount of meat you can expect from a beef carcass depends on many factors, including the animal’s breed, whether it was grass- or grain-finished, and its live weight. For example, a 1,200-pound beef animal will yield a hot carcass weight of about 750 pounds, which will cool to about 730 pounds. After de-boning and trimming, you can expect to get about 500 pounds of meat. The final price is based on the weight of your share. Once it’s weighed, we’ll calculate your total, subtract your deposit, and charge the remaining balance. You’ll also receive a receipt for your final payment. *Important to note:* – Pricing is based on the hanging weight, which includes processing fees. – The packaged weight you receive will be approximately 60% of the hanging weight. Our premium, pasture-raised beef is grain-finished and contains no added hormones. To ensure exceptional flavor and tenderness, it’s dry-aged for at least 14 days before processing. Each cut is vacuum-sealed to lock in freshness and quality. We’re happy to answer any questions you might have about the process—just let us know! 😊 — Customizable Cuts: With our Quarter Beef, you can customize your cuts to suit your needs. If you only want ground beef, steaks, and a few roasts, that’s perfectly fine. You don’t have to buy cuts like stew beef, brisket, or short ribs if they’re not your preference. However, it’s important to note that once you select cuts for steaks and roasts, they can be turned into more ground beef, but you cannot convert ground beef into steaks or roasts. Freezer Space Requirements: When purchasing a Quarter Beef, you’ll need approximately 4 cubic feet of freezer space to store the meat. For comparison, a Half Beef requires about 8 cubic feet, and a Whole Beef will need between 16-17 cubic feet. A good rule of thumb is to allocate one cubic foot of freezer space for every 35–40 pounds of packaged meat.
